Description

Med/Tele 2N Nurse Position - Savannah, Georgia

Unit Overview

  • Unit: Med/Tele 2N (Regional Admissions)
  • Beds: 23
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, sometimes 1:5
  • Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10
  • Respiratory Equipment: Nasal cannulas, BiPAP, High Flow NC (no ventilators)
  • Tele/Monitor Techs: Present on unit; they read strips, but RNs must interpret rhythms
  • Charge Nurse: Night charge RN does not usually take patient assignments
  • House Supervisor: Present at night

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum 2 years Med/Tele experience
  • At least 1 previous travel assignment completed successfully
  • Experience in a hospital of similar size and acuity
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS required
  • Must be able to titrate drips (common drips include Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone)

Scheduling & Work Environment

  • Contract length: 14 weeks
  • Self-scheduling allowed, but shifts may be adjusted for staffing needs (per RTO policy)
  • Block scheduling is permitted
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday requirement: Yes, unless approved time off
  • No call or standby requirements
  • Rare floating to Neurosurgical PCU with similar nurse-to-patient ratios
  • Dress code: Navy scrubs

Orientation

  • One day computer skills training
  • Basic 12-hour night shift orientation

Additional Notes

  • Local candidate rule: Travelers must live more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify
