Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Home Health)
Location: Lexington, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Home Health Registered Nurse (RN)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
- Weekend Requirement: Preferably one weekend per month if possible
- Patient Volume: 6-7 patients per day on busy days
- Work Environment: Rural area with significant travel and driving between patient homes
- Floating: Based in Lexington office, may float to other offices as needed
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Home Health nursing experience
- Proficient in nursing assessment and documentation, specifically OASIS and EPIC charting systems
- Must be skilled in nursing assessment and documentation
Licensure & Certifications
- Active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license required (pending license accepted only if single-state from a non-compact state)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC)
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers not accepted (prior travel experience required)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I9 or attestation required
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID with address within 100 miles of facility required
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Background check: 7-year history required within 1 year of start date
- Various federal and state background checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification of highest earned degree required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Immunizations or positive titers required for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination or declination form required during flu season
- 2 clinical references required
- Complete employment application/resume required
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
Additional Notes
- Mileage reimbursement provided for travel between patient homes
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Requests for time off must be approved at booking
- Candidates must comply with facility-specific orientation and compliance paperwork prior to start
This position is ideal for experienced Home Health RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working in rural settings with significant travel between patient homes.
