Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER with Pediatric focus)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Department (ER)
  • Experience with Pediatric (PEDS) population highly preferred
  • Prior travel experience required: First-time travelers NOT accepted
  • Epic electronic health record experience required

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider only
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Provider only
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider only
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) preferred
  • NIH Stroke Certification preferred
  • Pass/Fail Dysrhythmia/EKG testing required for certain units
  • Other competency exams: Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG

Job Details

  • Unit: Fast-paced Emergency Department with strong Pediatric presence
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts, 3p-3:30a, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Call Requirement: None
  • Float Requirement: Floating to ICU and ED for helping hands
  • Patient Census: Avg. 70 daily, 160 visits/day, 36 rooms, 50 beds
  • Team Nursing approach with patient assignments matching clinical expertise
  • Patient Diagnoses: Wide range including trauma, psychiatric emergencies, respiratory, oncological, neurological, sepsis, substance use disorder, abuse/assault evaluations, GI/GU/OB, and more
  • Special Procedures: Conscious sedation, Trauma/Stroke Alerts, Cath Lab Activation, SANE Consultation
  • Equipment: Point of Care Ultrasound, EPOC, Belmont, Ranger, Teleneurology
  • Unit Systems: Omnicell, Epic, SBAR, Voalte
  • Orientation: 36 hours to 1 week (class and clinical time)
  • Scrubs: Any color allowed

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Comprehensive background check within 30 days of start including Social Security verification, criminal searches (excluding NH counties), sex offender registry, education verification, and more
  • State-specific releases required (NH Statewide Release mandatory)
  • Drug screen: 10-panel within 14 days prior to start (with limited grace period)
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance required
  • Immunizations and Titers required:
    • Tdap (within last 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (True 2-Step PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titers or vaccines)
    • Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 1) with medical/religious exemptions allowed
  • Fit mask test annually (N95 or equivalent)
  • Facility-specific waivers for Hep B, Flu, and Tdap available for exemptions

Additional Requirements

  • Two current professional references within last 3 years (one must be a supervisor or charge RN)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Annual internal evaluation for travelers working 1+ year with Aya or agency
  • Travelers who have previously worked for the associated health system are not eligible

This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses with pediatric experience who have prior travel contract experience and meet the required certifications and compliance standards.
