Description

Job Summary: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Requirements

  • Licensure: Active RN license in Tennessee
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • AWHONN Intermediate
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience
    • At least 1 year of EPIC experience
    • No first-time travelers; prior travel experience required
  • Skills:
    • Special procedures including triage assessments, inductions, cesareans, external versions, NSTs, circumcisions, newborn resuscitation/stabilization, magnesium sulfate administration
  • Work Requirements:
    • Floating to other units based on skill set
    • Weekend coverage and on-call required

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of approximately 12 hours of online modules within 72 hours of assignment
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite
  • Pass/Fail testing (medication and fetal monitoring exams) required prior to start
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting as applicable
  • Education verification and primary source license verification within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year verifying ability to meet job demands
  • Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health documents:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working/floating in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required (not for remote workers)
  • Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation

Additional Certifications & Competencies

  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - AWHONN required
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) as applicable
  • STABLE certification for L&D and NICU
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health
  • NIH Stroke Certification for applicable units
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam annually
  • Core Competency training (Parts I, II, III) annually with minimum 80% passing score

Work Environment & Notes

  • Floating to other units may be required based on skill set
  • Weekend and on-call shifts are mandatory
  • Facility is latex-free
  • Badge photo required prior to start
  • Prior travel experience is mandatory; no first-time travelers accepted

This position is ideal for experienced L&D RNs with prior travel assignments who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are comfortable with floating and weekend/on-call duties.
