Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health

Location: Holyoke, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week (8-hour shifts), includes every other weekend and every other holiday


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with inpatient psychiatric experience to join a new 84-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital. This role involves providing direct and indirect care to patients with psychiatric, emotional, and substance use disorders. The RN will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to individualized treatment plans and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment.


Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care within a therapeutic milieu
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Develop, implement, and document patient treatment goals and interventions
  • Maintain professional boundaries while building therapeutic relationships
  • Float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
  • Take charge when required (no additional multiplier for charge nurse duties)

Qualifications

  • License: Massachusetts RN license required at time of application
  • Experience: Minimum one year inpatient psychiatric experience required; substance use inpatient experience preferred
  • Education: BSN preferred
  • Certifications: CPR certification required; restraint reduction, de-escalation, and crisis intervention experience preferred
  • Skills:
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving
    • Knowledge of behavioral health and substance abuse treatment modalities
    • Trauma-informed recovery model application
    • Effective oral and written communication
    • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
    • Crisis management, time management, delegation, coaching, and team building
    • Flexibility, creativity, and ability to manage stressful situations calmly and professionally
