Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVOR RN) - Washington, DC

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVOR RN)
  • Location: Washington, District of Columbia
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
  • Shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts, Day or Evening
    • Day shift: 06:30 AM – 07:00 PM
    • Evening shift: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
  • On Call/Weekend Requirements:
    • 6 calls per 6-week schedule
    • One weekend or holiday per 6-week schedule
  • Float Requirements: If no CVOR cases, float to general surgery

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • DC RN Licensure:
    • Pending DC license accepted if applied for, but must have license prior to start date
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Additional Certifications (as applicable):
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) not required for this position
    • Other certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., TNCC, NRP)

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years
    • Must have experience circulating in CVOR
    • Experience in Level 1 trauma required
  • Prior Travel Experience: Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment is required

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Flu vaccine is mandatory for all employees
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or titers:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)

Background & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification of highest degree required by position
  • Employment history verification: minimum 2 years of experience in past 7 years, including at least 1 prior travel assignment
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Completion of facility-specific modules and attestations prior to start
  • I9/E-Verify attestation required
  • Drug screen and background check attestations completed by credentialing staff

Additional Notes

  • Parking is available on campus; no shuttle service needed after evening shifts
  • Clear photo required for badge issuance (face centered, no glare, solid background)
  • Medication and competency exams required within 3 years of start, including:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80%+ to pass)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (specific to cardiac and critical care units)
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific health and safety policies and complete required training modules before start date

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with trauma experience who have completed at least one prior travel assignment and are licensed or eligible for licensure in DC.
