Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work on a Mixed Acuity Unit including medical patients and some PCU level of care patients.
  • Unit specialties include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary care.
  • Patient ratios: MS patients 1:5-6, PCU patients 1:3-4.
  • Care includes unstable strokes, BiPap, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Insulin drips, Post Heart Cath, and Post Pacemaker patients.
  • Must have solid neurological (Neuro) experience.
  • Accepting RNs with experience in MS/Telemetry or PCU.
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each.
  • Locals are NOT accepted.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER RNs)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM)

Licensure

  • Must have Indiana state license, compact license, or Indiana temporary license in hand prior to start.
  • Pending license accepted if obtained before start.

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse with solid Neuro experience.

  • Candidates must confirm experience with Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Insulin, Post Heart Cath, and Post Pacemaker procedures/drips.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy).
  • Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, education verification.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • Official transcript or diploma (may be pending at start).
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam.
  • Unit competency exam.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start.
  • Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required).
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • TB test within 1 year.
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted.
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted.
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required.
    • Flu vaccination/documentation required for 2025-26 season; no declinations accepted (medical/religious exemptions require approval).
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months.
  • References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles.
  • Employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days.
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, completed annually.
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality forms prior to start.
