Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted)
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Skills Required:
- Ultrasound guided IV placement
- Vein finder experience
- Pediatric vascular access team experience
- Pediatric Vascular Access Specialist (VAS) experience (e.g., Hematology-Oncology, ICU)
- IV placement skills
- Shift Details:
- Weekend work required
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Day/Night rotation with 12-hour shifts
- Shift start times: 7 AM, 11 AM, 7 PM
- Rotating shifts include:
- 7 AM - 7:30 PM
- 11 AM - 11:30 PM
- 3 PM - 3:30 AM

Required Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for certain pediatric intensive care units if assignment extends beyond 13 weeks
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for clinical/allied positions in pediatric units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - NICU must have PALS or NRP (NRP preferred)
- CHEMO certification - Required for Oncology
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Required for Labor & Delivery (AWHONN preferred)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - Required for all RNs and LPNs (not required for APNs)
- Competency Exam - Required (not required for APNs)
- Tech Cert Verification - Professional certification verification based on position (e.g., ARRT for Radiology)
- State License Verification - Must be verified within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) - Must be verified within 30 days of start
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for all Psych and Behavioral Health positions
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Background check: 10-year criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including aliases and multiple federal/state databases
- Massachusetts CORI (iCORI) release required within 60 days of start
- Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required for all travelers; facility-specific fit testing completed onsite
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, NP, or registered DC
- Immunizations and tests required prior to start:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual requirement)
- TB Questionnaire (if past positive PPD)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Hepatitis B - series and/or declination or positive titer
- Varicella - proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or approved exemption (must be current season)
- COVID-19 Vaccine or approved exemption (initial series required; seasonal vaccine preferred but not mandatory)
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within last 12 months (not required for APNs)
Work History & References
- 10-year work history required on application
- Explanation required for gaps greater than 30 days
- Two professional references verified from two of the last three employers
Additional Notes
- Proof of name change required if documents are under different names
- Onboarding packet to be completed approximately 2 weeks prior to start

This position offers a challenging pediatric nursing role requiring specialized vascular access skills and experience in a high-acuity, Magnet-recognized facility with a supportive team environment. Weekend availability and flexibility with rotating 12-hour shifts are essential.
