Description

Job Opportunity: Stepdown Cardiac Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Specialty: Registered Nurse – ED Holding/CICU (Stepdown Cardiac)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Contracted to the Emergency Department (ED) unit, specifically caring for inpatient/CICU level holds in the ED.
  • Manage patients with cardiac and critical care needs in a stepdown setting.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
  • Must have a strong Progressive Care Unit (PCU) background within the last year.
  • Emergency Department (ED) experience preferred but not required.
  • First-time travelers accepted only if they have EPIC experience and 2 years of experience (no first-timers with only 1 year experience).
  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend (EOW).

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Provider only
  • BCLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Provider only
  • EKG test on arrival

Unit and Procedural Details

  • Manage and titrate drips (common drips include Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, Dobutamine) – required
  • Use of special equipment such as Bipap, Cpap, Vapotherm, Alaris Pumps, Phillips Monitoring System

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Comprehensive background check within 30 days of start, including:
    • Social Security Verification
    • National Sex Offender Registry
    • National Criminal Search
    • Education Verification
    • State and county criminal searches (excluding NH counties; NH State Police search required)
    • BEAS State Registry (New Hampshire)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 14 days prior to start (with a 7-day grace period if needed)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety virtual questionnaire) required for all clinical travelers
  • Two current professional references within the last 3 years, including one from a supervisor or charge RN
  • Employment application and skills checklist required

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Annual fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required
  • Tdap vaccine administered after age 19 and within the last 10 years (medical or religious exemptions allowed with documentation)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year prior to start (2-step PPD or equivalent)
  • TB Questionnaire required for all travelers
  • Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (declinations accepted with waiver)
    • Varicella (history of disease NOT accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during October 31 – April 1 period (medical or religious exemptions allowed with documentation)

Competency and Testing Requirements

  • Pass/fail Basic Dysrhythmia EKG exam within 48 hours of contract signing (specific to certain units)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (for internal purposes)
  • Competency exam required (for internal purposes)
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication awareness required on-site for critical care units

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
  • Facility requires documentation and compliance with OSHA education and safety manuals.
  • Various facility-specific waivers and attestations may be required for vaccine exemptions and compliance.
