Job Opportunity: RN - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Unit Information

• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Beds: 44
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 2 CNC/Charge Nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC
  • Night Shift: 2 CNC/Charge Nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC
• Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1, stretched to 5:1
• Equipment Used: IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pump, Chest tubes, Trachs, Patient lifts
• EMR System: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: Registered Nurse License
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (required)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in RN specialty (Progressive Care/Neuro/Trauma)
• Skills:

  • Must have ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications
  • Neuro and Trauma Care experience required/preferred
• Personality Fit: Team player, patient-focused

Typical Procedures Performed

• Neuro and spinal checks
• C-Collar placement, TLSO braces
• Chest tube management
• PCA pump operation
• IV infusions
• Lumbar drain care
• Feeding tube placement
• Blood transfusions

Additional Information

• Floating Areas: Stepdown units, Med-surg units
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
• Schedule: Every other weekend required on call
