Job Description

Seeking an experienced critical care Registered Nurse for a 12-week night shift contract in a 14-bed ICU unit. The patient population includes medical cases such as alcohol withdrawal, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), COPD, GI bleed, drug overdose, COVID-19, and occasional surgical patients (e.g., VATS).

Typical ICU patient conditions:

• ARDS, ventilated patients
• Use of pressors, arterial lines, chest tubes
• Post-surgical patients (carotids, VATS, CEAs)
• Ratio: 1:1 or 1:2
• ICU staff serve as code and rapid response team
• Intensivists available during the day; Nurse Practitioners at night

Preferred experience:

• Telemetry experience
• Cerner electronic health record experience is a plus

Required Skills & Competencies

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Continuous IV sedation
• Procedural sedation administration
• ALS & BLS certification required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• Telemetry experience
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Management of dysrhythmias
• Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Procedural sedation administration

Additional Requirements

• Completion of Massachusetts CORI statewide background check and other standard background checks (7-year search including SS trace, county searches, sex offender registry)
• Compliance with Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry search requirements for travelers
• Submission of a passport-style badge photo prior to start
• Completion of facility-specific compliance checklists and questionnaires (e.g., latex allergy, COVID exemption forms if applicable)
• Annual TB questionnaire for past positives or pending TB tests
• Age-specific competency exam required
