Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work on a 37-bed medical telemetry unit caring for patients with cardiac and medical conditions.
• Patient population includes CHF, Atrial Fibrillation, Pulmonary Embolism, Pneumonia, and patients post pacemaker and cardiac catheterization.
• Care involves managing cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin.
• Shifts include days, evenings, and nights with rotation every other week (EOW) for day shifts; night shifts do not rotate.
• Floating to other applicable units may be required.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio:

  • Day/Evening shifts: 1:4 (max 5)
  • Night shift: 1:5-6
• Charting system: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Knowledge of cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Current AHA BLS certification
• Telemetry certification

Certifications & Health Requirements

• AHA BLS certification (only AHA accepted).
• Telemetry certification.
• Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year, updated annually.
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit test required.
• Documentation of required immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) immunity or vaccination record
  • TB test within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity preferred
  • Tdap vaccination within 10 years preferred
  • Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 1 year
• Criminal background checks, CORI, SSN trace, sex offender check, exclusion checks, and education verification required prior to start.
• Skills checklists and medication/dysrhythmia exams with minimum passing scores required.

• Free on-site parking available.
• Shift rotation for day shifts may include 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a.
• Night shifts are fixed and do not rotate.
• Floating to other units may be required.
• Must be able to work 36 hours per week on rotating schedule.

Prior Travel Experience

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with cardiac monitoring, telemetry strip interpretation, and managing complex cardiac patients in a fast-paced environment.
