Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Glenview, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 9 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR)
• Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
• Call Requirements: Pre-assigned call shifts; 1-2 shifts per week expected for full-time employees
• Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekend days per 8-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Option to pick up holiday call assignments or fill gaps as needed
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 for all shifts; 16 rooms and 16 beds

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years experience as an Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN)
• Ophthalmology experience with at least 2 years total and experience within the last year
• Urology experience
• Vascular surgery experience including vascular call experience
• General OR experience
• Surgical case experience including:

  • Endo/Laparoscopic surgery
  • General surgery
  • Ophthalmology surgery
  • Vascular surgery
• Specific vascular surgical experience including:

  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair
  • Aortocaval fistula repair
  • Aortoenteric fistula repair
  • Arteriovenous fistula repair
  • Arteriovenous malformation surgery
  • Atherectomy
• General surgery experience including:

  • Cholecystectomy
  • Colon resection
  • Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical)
  • Scrubbing general surgery
  • Thyroidectomy (partial/total)
• Ophthalmology surgical experience including:

  • Eye trauma
• Additional required experience: Trauma amputation
• Certifications required:

  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Licensure & Certifications

• License: Must have an active Illinois RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • CNOR preferred

Additional Requirements

• Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
• Call: Pre-assigned by coordinator
• References: 2 references required

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by a physician
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific mask models required)
• Immunizations and titers: Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
• Drug testing: 10 panel within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Eye exam (Snellen vision test) and color blindness test within 1 year of start
• Background checks including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry
• Competency exams including medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG (not required for OR RNs)

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• First-time travelers will not be accepted.
• Call shifts and weekend requirements are part of the assignment.
• Candidates must be able to meet all licensure and certification requirements prior to start.
