Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Weston, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Shift: 0645-1715 with liver call; may assist with other cases if no liver/transplant cases available
- Must have strong experience with liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures
- Proficiency required in Misonix/CUSA equipment
- Experience required in organ implantation (not just harvesting)
- Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is expected
- On-call requirement: 1 shift per week plus two 12-hour weekend shifts per month
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Pending license accepted
- Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12-hour shifts or 40 hours for 8/10-hour shifts
- Smoke-free facility: all travelers must be nicotine-free (negative 10 panel drug screen including nicotine test required)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Strong experience with liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures
- Experience in organ implantation (putting organs back in the new patient, not just harvesting)
- Proficiency in Misonix/CUSA equipment
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Negative 10 panel drug screen within 1 year of start (no medical marijuana card accepted)
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Seasonal influenza vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
- Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history and federal exclusions
Additional Information
- Orientation scheduled approximately 3-4 weeks from start date
- Must prioritize completion of time-sensitive onboarding modules before start
- Facility uses EPIC for charting
- Teaching hospital with approximately 230 staffed beds
- Scrub color: Ceil Blue
- Free parking available in unrestricted spaces

- First-time travel nurses accepted
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application
- Performance evaluations and professional references required for candidates with prior experience at the facility
- Candidates must be nicotine-free with negative drug screen results including cotinine
