Registered Nurse - Telemetry I (Night Shift)
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position on a 23-bed Surgical Stepdown Unit (part of two Med/Surgical units).
- Night shift with every other weekend (EOW) schedule, 36 hours per week.
- Must be able to read telemetry strips.
- Floating required.
- Rotating shifts are required for day positions but not for night positions.
- Patient ratios:
- Stepdown: 2-3 patients per RN
- Med/Surg: 3-5 patients per RN
- PCA: 6-10 patients per PCA
- Patient population includes post-operative care for General, GYN, Vascular, Thoracic, Urology, Oral, Plastics, and Trauma surgeries.
- Charting system: EPIC.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- IRP ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Experience managing chest tubes
- Experience managing nasogastric tubes (NGT)
- Experience managing epidurals
- Experience managing capnography
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Documentation required prior to or at onboarding:
- MMR vaccination or proof of immunity.
- TB test within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test), updated if break >6 months.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity strongly preferred.
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred.
- Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 1 year, updated if break >6 months.
- Criminal background check and Massachusetts CORI within 45 days prior to start date, updated if break >6 months.
- National sex offender check and exclusion checks within 30 days of start and annually.
- Education verification of highest degree achieved.
- Social Security Number trace for last 7 years.
- Name change documentation if applicable.
Additional Notes
- Must submit a resume including 7 years of work experience with city and state.
- Two professional references required, including at least one supervisor-level reference within 4 years.
- Skills checklist must be completed within 1 year of submission.
- Confirmation of assignment form required upon acceptance and for any extensions.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
This role is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with night shifts and managing complex post-surgical patients in a stepdown setting.
