Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Seattle, WA
Position Overview
- Specialty: Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse
- Location: Seattle, Washington
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (Day/Evening shifts with start times between 06:30-11:00)
- Weekend: Occasional
- On-Call: Required to be available for 4 hours every 6 weeks; must arrive within 1 hour when called in. On-call blocks include early morning and late evening hours on weekdays and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Experience with central line management
Preferred Experience
- IV therapy expertise ("IV Stars")
- Ventilator management
- Broad pediatric nursing experience, ideally in academic or varied PACU settings
Additional Information
- Accepts first-time travelers with recent and solid Pediatric PACU experience
- Candidates with varied PACU experience across multiple practice settings and acutely ill patient types are preferred
- Facility requires completion of mandatory online modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours), including Epic test-out modules for inpatient nurses
- Photo for badge must be submitted within 72 hours of contract signing; photo background must be blue with no hats or headwear
- Math test and EKG/dysrhythmia competency tests are required onsite; remediation available if needed
- Meal waiver agreement available but not mandatory unless waiving second meal period
- Candidates must be willing to meet on-call requirements similar to staff nurses
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required
