Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Call Requirement: 9-10 days per month
  • Electronic Medical Record System: EPIC
  • Travel Radius Restriction: Candidates with primary residence in the following counties are not eligible for new contracts (extensions reviewed case-by-case):
    Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Cath Lab, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in Interventional Radiology (IR)
  • Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS and ACLS certifications preferably from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced EKG/ECG competency exam (facility-specific, strict passing criteria)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification (may be assigned during orientation if not on file)
  • Color Blindness test (preferred)

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date; must complete a "TSH Medical History" form during physical
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 1 year) or negative chest X-ray if past positive PPD
  • Up-to-date immunizations or titers for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (specific lab and panel requirements apply)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5th, 2024 (mask required if exempt)
  • N95 fit test with OSHA questionnaire (quantitative test only accepted for 3M 1870 mask)
  • Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test prior to start (can be completed onsite)

Onboarding and Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Passport-style photo for badge (plain background, head and shoulders visible, no hats or sunglasses)
  • FCRA Authorization Release form signed prior to start
  • Lift assessment (typically 25 lbs; may be 10 lbs depending on position) completed during Occupational Health appointment
  • Completion of virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules via Healthstream prior to start date
  • Review of ECG study guide prior to start
  • Completion of PPD questionnaire and N95 OSHA questionnaire forms during Occupational Health or orientation
  • Religious exemption requests for flu vaccine must be submitted and approved before start

Background and Compliance Checks

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required
  • Standard background check including:
    • 7-year SS trace
    • County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
    • Nationwide and sex offender registry checks
  • Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • New York City Registry Search required for Behavioral Health travelers (not applicable here)

References

  • 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 2 years of start)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must not reside within 50 miles of the facility if their primary residence is in the restricted counties listed above.
  • Candidates must complete all required exams and certifications within specified timeframes to maintain eligibility.
  • Strict adherence to facility policies on testing and documentation is mandatory.
