Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Shift: Night, 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), 3 shifts per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) during night shifts
- Every other weekend required, some holidays, no on-call duties
- Experience with NextStage Continuous Venovenous Hemofiltration (CVVH) machine required
- Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable areas preferred
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Arrhythmia experience and ability to pass facility-specific Telemetry test
Testing and Competency Requirements
- Pass the facility-specific Telemetry test (Adult Telemetry Test via LMS WorkRamp) before starting
- Telemetry test requires:
- Minimum 80% overall score
- 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory
- Correct answers on all 3rd degree heart block questions
- Candidates allowed up to 3 attempts with remediation required after 2nd failure
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Annual renewal of certifications and tests as required by the facility
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Annual TB Questionnaire
- Proof of immunizations or immunity for:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or documented declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
- Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)
Background and Compliance
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace and nationwide sex offender search
- Wisconsin BID Form and Caregiver Screening required and must be completed promptly
- Drug screening required per agency standards
- Education verification required for nursing license and specialty as applicable
- References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years required
Additional Facility Requirements
- Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Completion of facility-specific safety and orientation acknowledgments
- Signed acknowledgment of pass/fail testing for Telemetry exam
