Job Opportunity: RN, Cancer Center Infusion, Outpatient
Location: Northampton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 08:00 AM – 04:30 PM
Job Description
- Provide patient-centered care in an outpatient cancer center setting, focusing on chemotherapy administration, patient education, care planning, symptom management, and coordination of outpatient services.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to address complex care issues for cancer patients and their caregivers.
- Practice according to ANA (American Nurses Association) and ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) standards of care.
- Operate within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of infusion experience, with infusion experience within the last year.
- Experience in an outpatient setting.
- Oncology experience.
- ONS Chemo/Immunotherapy certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
Required Credentials and Health Compliance
- Professional license verification (primary source) within 30 days of start; MA Conditional Licenses not accepted.
- Current BLS certification (AHA preferred).
- Fit test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date; updated annually.
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if fit test required).
- Documentation of immunity or vaccination for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella).
- Tuberculosis (TB) screening within 3 months of start date; updated if break >6 months.
- Physician health statement within 365 days of start date; updated if break >6 months.
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start; updated if break >6 months.
- Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start; updated if break >6 months.
- National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start; updated annually.
- Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start; updated annually.
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state.
- Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher.
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission.
- Confirmation of assignment form required for initial assignment and extensions.
- Education verification through background check company.
- Social Security Number trace as part of background check.
Additional Information
- Oncology Nurse certification (OCN) must be obtained after 2 years of hire or 2,000 hours of oncology nursing practice.
- No religious or medical exemptions allowed for N95 fit testing.
- Positive TB test requires documentation of a negative chest x-ray (optional but recommended).
- Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity is strongly preferred but optional.
- Tdap vaccination within 10 years preferred but optional.
- Name change documentation required if legal name differs from credential documents.
