Description

Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule

  • 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (Day shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
  • 2-3 weekends during the contract
  • Every other holiday off
  • Up to 40 hours of RTO (Release Time Off) can be approved

Job Requirements

  • Must have acute care hospital inpatient Case Management experience
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system required
  • Virginia nursing license required; submissions accepted with VA license pending

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
  • Minimum of 1 year of Case Management experience, including recent experience within the last year
  • Acute Hospital inpatient Case Management experience in an inpatient setting
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
  • Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • Official transcript required (photocopy of diploma not accepted)
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification
  • Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccination (no declinations/exemptions)
    • 2-step PPD or Qgold test for TB (Chest X-ray if positive)
    • Annual TB questionnaire if prior positive
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no declinations/exemptions)
    • Hepatitis B: Positive Hep B Surface Antibody titer or negative Surface and Antigen titers (no declinations/exemptions)
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer (declination accepted but will not hold clearance)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (no declinations/exemptions)

Additional Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, attesting ability to meet physical demands of position
  • Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged
  • Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Skills checklist and competency exams must be current and updated annually
  • Fingerprinting required for certain units (Behavioral Health and Unit 5 East) with results prior to start
  • Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check required for Behavioral Health and Unit 5 East candidates
  • Fit testing may be required onsite for patient-facing roles
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required only for Behavioral Health nurses

Notes

  • Candidates with latex allergy must complete a specific questionnaire
  • Some certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, Chemotherapy, EFM, NIH Stroke, etc.) may be required or preferred depending on unit assignment; confirmation will be provided by the program manager if applicable
  • Pass/Fail testing includes a Basic Rhythm Interpretation Assessment with remediation if needed

This position offers a structured 13-week travel contract with a focus on inpatient acute care case management, requiring strong clinical experience, specific certifications, and compliance with comprehensive health and background screening protocols.
