Registered Nurse – Correctional

Location: Highland, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM (5 days/week, 40 hours/week)
Dress Code: Business casual or scrubs
Work Environment:

• Youth served are male, adjudicated juvenile delinquents placed by Family Court, potentially in custody until age 21
• Facility capacity approximately 100 youth
• Supervision staff present during nursing care
• Free parking available on-site
• No current vaccine requirements

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain general medical inventory, including controlled substances
• Administer medications
• Review and evaluate nursing intervention plans and overall health conditions of youth
• Ensure interventions align with comprehensive treatment plans
• Participate in staff trainings
• Prepare required clinical and administrative reports
• Maintain infection control standards
• Serve as a member of the facility’s medical treatment team
• Additional duties discussed during interview

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
• Minimum of 1 year correctional nursing experience, with correctional experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
