Description
Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule & Work Details
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)
- No weekend shifts required
- Average patient visits per day: 6
- Patient visits may include rural areas within a 25-mile radius
- Floating between offices within the region may be required
- Local candidates living within 100 miles are accepted but limited to one 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Home Health nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience in a Home Health setting
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Proficient in OASIS data collection and documentation
Clinical Skills & Competencies
- IV therapy: care of peripheral IVs, central lines, ports; phlebotomy; starting IVs
- Respiratory care: chest tubes, nebulizers, oxygen administration, tracheostomy care
- Gastrointestinal care: colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tubes, G-tube care, NG tube care
- Genitourinary care: post AV fistula/shunt care, suprapubic catheter insertion and care, urinary catheter insertion and care
- Medication administration: intradermal, intramuscular, IV infusions, PCA pump, subcutaneous injections, pain scale assessments
Documentation & Compliance
- Must complete all required documentation and assessments using Epic and OASIS
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 1 year or clear chest X-ray if previously positive, plus annual TB questionnaire
- Required immunizations or positive titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Fit testing for masks required within 1 year and updated annually
- Background check covering 7 years of history required within 1 year of start
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Two clinical references required
- Completion of new hire paperwork and compliance documents prior to start
- Photo for badge required (professional, plain background)
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are accepted; travel experience preferred but not required
- Facility may call off one shift per two weeks
- Requests for time off must be submitted with application and approved before booking
- Local candidates living less than 50 miles are subject to a reduced pay rate and the same one-assignment limit as those within 100 miles
This position offers an opportunity to provide personalized home health care including wound care, IV therapy, orthopedic care, chronic disease management, heart failure monitoring, and Alzheimer’s/Dementia care in a community setting.
