Description
Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Unit
Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 4 shifts per week (48 hours/week)
Job Description
- Work on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with patient ratios ranging from 1:5 to 1:7.
- Must have worked in acute care within the past 6 months.
- Floating within skillset may be required.
- Charting experience with EPIC is required.
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
- Holiday requirement: available to work every other holiday if needed.
- Locals within 75 miles are not accepted for RN roles. First-time travelers are accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York (NY is not a compact state; pending licenses are not accepted).
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing, with experience within the last year.
- Experience in an acute care setting.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Clinical skills including:
- Emergency response, including rapid response and code team activation.
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
- Cardiac monitoring.
- Experience with EPIC charting system.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum years of experience: 1 year in Med Surg / Telemetry within the last year.
- Prior travel experience: Not required.
Health and Compliance Requirements
Candidates must complete the following within 5 days of contract signing:
- Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually).
- Fit mask test (annual requirement).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year).
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season.
- Snellen eye exam (within 1 year).
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required.
Background and Verification Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- 7-year criminal background check (including felony, sex offender, SSN trace, education verification).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, updated monthly.
- Education verification from primary source required (no hard copy degrees).
- Employment verification of at least 2 past employments.
- References (2 within 3 years) required for certain candidates.
- State-specific checks including sex offender registry and Medicaid exclusion list.
Additional Information
- Scrub color: any combination of navy blue and white.
- Facility is Magnet-recognized and an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center.
- Must submit scheduling and time-off requests upon application.
- The client may cancel up to three shifts during the contract without penalty.
