Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units.
• Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement.
• Patient ratios:

  • Day/Evening: 5:1 (stretch 6-7)
  • Night: 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
• Patient diagnoses primarily cardiac and stroke.
• Use of special equipment such as hoyer lifts.
• Must be able to float within scope to Medical-Surgical, ICU, and Emergency Department units.
• Charting primarily in Epic; Epic experience preferred.
• Scrub color: any combination of navy and white.
• Work every other weekend required.
• No on-call duties.
• No local candidates within 75 miles accepted.
• No pending licenses accepted.
• No holiday requests off; limit time off to no more than 7 days.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.
• Color blindness testing required once.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required.
• Facility uses Epic electronic health record system.
• Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work promptly after contract signing.
• Floating between units may be required to meet staffing needs.
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed.

This is a travel Registered Nurse position on Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units requiring at least 1 year of experience, strong clinical skills including phlebotomy and IV placement, and the ability to float to ICU and ED.
