Description

Dialysis RN - 10th Floor

Location: Bronx, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours per Day: 12 hours
Hours per Week: 34 hours


Job Description

Seeking a skilled Hemodialysis/Dialysis travel nurse to start ASAP. The role involves administering dialysis primarily at the bedside in various hospital units including ER, ICU, and CCU, as well as in a 4-station Dialysis Suite. Nurses must be comfortable working independently and flexible to fill staffing gaps.


Patient Load & Workload

  • Dialysis Suite: Approximately 12 patients per day
  • Bedside Dialysis: Approximately 9-10 patients per day
  • Maximum individual workload: 3 patients per day (each dialysis session lasts about 3 hours)

Job Duties

  • Cannulation and de-cannulation of fistulas and dialysis catheters
  • Testing and maintaining dialysis machines
  • Administering dialysis to acute and chronic adult patients
  • Disinfecting machines between patients
  • Floating throughout the hospital to provide inpatient dialysis

Equipment Used

  • Fresenius AT 2000-Bluestar
  • Portable WRH

Scheduling & Requirements

  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts, typically 8:00-8:30 AM to 8:00-9:30 PM
  • Schedule made one month in advance
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday
  • No holiday requirement
  • No call or standby requirement for travelers
  • Scrub color: Royal Blue

Orientation

  • 2 days classroom training
  • 1 day preceptor training

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of dialysis nursing experience
  • Preferred experience with both acute and chronic dialysis (inpatient and outpatient)
  • ICU or PCU background preferred

Additional Information

  • No medical assistants or CNAs currently available to assist; expected to start early September 2024
  • ANCC (Assistant Nursing Care Coordinator) available on each shift as a resource

This position is ideal for a dialysis nurse comfortable with independent bedside care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
