Unit Details

• Operating Room (OR) Unit
• Level 1 Trauma Facility
• 23 OR suites
• Average of 75 cases per day
• EMR system: EPIC

Schedule & Shifts

• Weekend rotations and call required
• Call response time: 45 minutes
• Call frequency:

  • Weeknights: 3-4 calls per 4-week period
  • Weekends: 1 call shift per 4-week period
• Shifts:

  • 12-hour shifts on weekends (rotating with other staff)
  • 8-hour shifts during the week (rotating)
  • Open to 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts totaling 36-40 hours per week (to be discussed with manager)
• Self-scheduling allowed within reason; block scheduling not guaranteed
• No floating requirements
• Charge nurse present on all shifts (charge nurse does not take patient assignments)

Call Expectations

• Travelers must take the same amount of call as permanent staff
• Assigned to a call center with rotating circulator and tech call duties
• RN may sign up for tech call spots but can be bumped if needed
• Call begins at end of shift for shifts ending at 3:30 PM or 5:30 PM; extended shift hours require separate call coverage
• Circulator call staff may assist with cardiac and eye cases depending on call center assignment

Clinical Experience & Skills

• Must have prior travel nursing experience
• Must have experience working in a Level 1 trauma center
• RN experience with scrubbing and/or circulating in Neuro, Ortho, and Trauma cases
• Experience with trauma, ortho, neuro, cardiac, and exploratory laparotomy (ex lap) cases during night shifts
• Scrubbing is a bonus but not required

Certifications & Licenses

• Current RN license
• BLS certification required

Additional Information

• ASAP start required; contract must end by June 1st
• Manager interviews candidates directly; no prescreening
• Housing leads available upon request; candidates encouraged to explore local housing options
• Scrub color and dress code are hospital issued

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with Level 1 trauma center background and prior travel nursing experience, comfortable with weekend rotations, call duties, and a fast-paced surgical environment.
