Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Nurse (RN)

Position Details

• Employment Type: Contractor
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts (08:00 - 16:30)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend Rotation: On call every 3 weeks for one week (Monday 16:00 to following Monday 07:00) with a 45-minute response time
• Holiday On-Call Expectation: May be on call for 50% of holidays during the contract
• Schedule Cycle: Created in 12-week increments

Unit and Patient Information

• Unit Beds: 1 IR Suite, 1 Minor Procedure Room
• Average Daily Census: 5-8 patients
• Patient Population: Older adults in a community hospital setting
• Common Procedures: Nephrostomy tubes, sonograms, port placements, biopsies, angiograms with interventions, PE thrombectomies, embolizations, kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, thoracentesis/paracentesis
• Excluded Procedures: No chemotherapy or neuro procedures

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years of Interventional Radiology (IR) experience
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted
• Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Wisconsin RN license (must have at time of application)
  • BLS certification
  • ARRT certification
• Skills:

  • Experience with the listed IR case types
  • Ability to scrub and pan simultaneously
  • Comfort with charting/coding preferred but not required

Orientation and Training

• New Employee Orientation (NEO)
• 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation

• Radiologists
• Radiology Physician Assistant for minor procedures
• Lead Tech and Lead RN
• Management team
• Rapid Response/Code Team
• Respiratory Therapy

Technology and Equipment

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
• PACS: McKesson
• Unit Equipment: GE Fluoro Machine, Ultrasound machine, Inari device (vendor support available)

Additional Information

• Floating: May float to CT to assist with procedures (not operating CT equipment)
• Scrubs provided; bring own lock if locker security is needed

• Unit culture described as upbeat; currently all female staff except rotating physicians and PAs
