Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)

Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Circulator role in the Operating Room working alongside two surgical technologists.
  • Provides care for perioperative patients, including cesarean sections (C-sections).
  • Utilizes equipment such as Pyxis, EPIC documentation, TECSYS supply distribution, I-stat, laparoscopy tools, positioning devices, and anesthesia support equipment.
  • Unit includes 4 ORs and 2 procedure rooms.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1.

Schedule & Call Requirements

  • Night shift: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts).
  • Approximately 36 hours per week.
  • Call required:
    • One weekday call every 2-3 weeks.
    • One weekend call every 8 weeks.
  • RN works with a call nurse available for support.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Indiana
  • Minimum 2 years of OR Circulate experience
  • OR Circulate experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Orientation & Training

  • 1-2 weeks of clinical orientation provided.
  • Strong educational support available to ensure competency.
  • Orientation includes night shifts during the first two weeks (Week 1: Mon-Wed; Week 2: Tue-Thu).
  • 8 hours of non-billable orientation; clinicians returning within 12 months of last assignment are not eligible for non-billable orientation.

Additional Information

  • No floating to other units, but may assist PACU, ER, and ICU during emergencies.
  • Call-off or cancellation allowed up to 24 hours before shift for the 13-week assignment.
  • Local rate adjustments apply for clinicians living within 50 miles (not relevant for candidate consideration).

Important Notes for Candidates

  • Must disclose if time off is required during the assignment.
  • Position may be offered as W-2 or 1099 (contractor) status.
