Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Travel Position

Location: North Richland Hills, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Hours per Week: 36 (with every other weekend scheduling and overtime available)
Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – High acuity, including ECMO, heart transplant, CABG, and post-CABG care

Job Description

• Provide critical care nursing in a high-acuity ICU setting.
• Care for ventilated patients and perform hemodynamic monitoring.
• Participate in bedside shift reports with updates to patient whiteboards.
• May be floated to other ICUs or, rarely, to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) depending on volume and acuity.
• Use of Meditech documentation system preferred.
• Work in a Magnet-designated hospital with Beacon award recognition for the CVICU.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring.
• Experience caring for ventilated patients.
• Experience in post-CABG care.
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU).
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic health record system.

• ICU is a very high acuity unit with advanced procedures including ECMO and heart transplants.
• The hospital is a Magnet-designated facility and a Beacon award winner for the CVICU.
• Unit certifications include Stroke and Chest Pain (CP) certifications.
• The hospital is a Level III Trauma Center.

Work Environment and Policies

• Dress code: Royal blue scrubs for RNs.
• Nail policy: Clean and healthy nails; artificial nails, gel, or next-gen nails are not allowed.
• Hair must be neat, clean, and pulled back if shoulder length or longer.
• Facial hair must be clean and neatly trimmed.
• Tattoos should be covered when possible; visible body art addressed individually.
• Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited (e.g., nose rings, tongue rings).
• Rudeness is not tolerated; professional bedside manner expected.

Additional Information

• Floating to other ICU units as needed based on patient volume and acuity.
• Weekend shifts rotate; overtime opportunities available.
• Attendance policies consistent with company-wide standards.
