Description

Registered Nurse - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work on a mixed acuity unit caring for medical patients with some PCU level of care patients.
  • Unit specialties include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary care.
  • Patient ratios: MS patients 1:5-6, PCU patients 1:3-4.
  • Care includes managing unstable strokes, BiPAP, and drips such as cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin.
  • Must have solid neurological nursing experience.
  • Accepting RNs with experience in MS/Telemetry or PCU.
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day shift: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM).
  • Charting system: Cerner.
  • Facility type: Short-Term Acute Care with 194 staffed beds.
  • Scrub color: red top, black bottoms.
  • Free parking available.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Indiana.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
  • Current certifications:
    • ACLS (American Heart Association)
    • BLS (American Heart Association)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Prior neurological nursing experience.
