Description
Pediatric IV Therapy Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work as a Pediatric IV Therapy RN on a vascular access team.
- Experience required with ultrasound-guided IV placement and vein finder technology.
- Must have pediatric vascular access experience, including care for pediatric to adult populations in areas such as Hematology/Oncology and ICU.
- Position involves day and night 12-hour shifts with rotation between:
- 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
- 3:00 PM – 3:30 AM
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum 2 years of vascular access experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Experience working with pediatric patients.
- Ultrasound-guided IV placement experience.
- Vein finder experience.
- Experience in Hematology/Oncology.
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience.
Experience & Skills
- Ultrasound-guided IV placement and vein finder experience mandatory.
- Experience on a pediatric vascular access team, including Hematology/Oncology and ICU settings.
- Ability to work with pediatric through adult populations.
- First-time travel nurses accepted.
Work Schedule
- Rotating 12-hour shifts covering days and nights as listed above.
- Weekend shifts required.
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute care facility with Magnet designation.
- Level III/IV NICU and Level I Trauma center.
- Uses EPIC for charting.
- Scrub color: any solid color allowed on all units except OR (provided scrubs) and SPT (any color, not provided).
- Parking: discounted day passes with shuttle service for off-site parking; free parking for night shifts.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check: 10-year criminal background check within 6 months of start, including nationwide and state-specific checks, plus federal exclusions lists. Must be initiated within 24 hours of booking.
- Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance required within 6 months of start.
- Proof of name change if applicable.
- Employment application with 10-year work history; gaps over 30 days require explanation.
- Two professional references from two separate employers within the last three jobs.
- Skills checklist specific to scope of practice within one year prior to start.
- Facility-specific onboarding packet to be completed approximately 2 weeks prior to start.
- Various facility-specific health and background forms, including flu and COVID exemption forms if applicable.
Notes
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted with a rate differential.
- Facility requires strict adherence to immunization and health documentation policies.
- Failure to submit required Smartsheet attestations for flu and COVID vaccines (if vaccinated outside the facility) may affect eligibility for shifts.
This position is ideal for RNs with pediatric vascular access experience seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment with a strong focus on pediatric care.
