Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Registered Nurse position specializing in Labor and Delivery.
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
  • Travel/contract employment type.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Red Cross preferred; required for Labor & Delivery and other specified units.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required for all candidates.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required.

Licensure

  • Current, valid Massachusetts RN license required with primary source verification.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience.
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
  • Fit testing for 3M N95 Model 1860 mask required for all units, including OR.
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold or T-Spot within 6 months) or 2-step PPD within 6 months; if past positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year required.
  • Up-to-date immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer required; declination only accepted with low titer and completion of facility-specific declination form)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); exemptions require facility approval and mask-wearing if declined.
  • Annual COVID-19 vaccination required or approved exemption. Proof of vaccination required prior to start.
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted).

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Pass/Fail testing on EKG and medication administered on first day of orientation; remediation available if needed.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum passing score of 80% or facility-specific Angoff score.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Labor & Delivery and Telemetry units.
  • Online color blindness testing within 1 year of start date.

Background Checks & Documentation

  • Standard background check including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/schooled, sex offender registry, and nationwide checks.
  • Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
  • CORI release required.
  • Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all candidates in MA.
  • Emergency contact form required prior to start.
  • Facility-specific photo for badge (headshot with grey background, no selfies or professional photos).

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color is flexible; scrubs provided for OR.
  • Flu and COVID-19 exemption forms must be completed and approved if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire required if positive TB test history.
  • Hepatitis B declination form required if declining vaccine.
