Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse) - Emergency Department
Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5x8 hours (10:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend with float
Job Description
- Role: Emergency Department Case Manager RN
- Must have experience working in an Emergency Department (ED) setting
- Responsibilities include:
- Case Management and Utilization Review
- Admission Criteria evaluation
- Care coordination
- Discharge planning
- Compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) regulations
- Documentation system used: Cerner
- Orientation: 40 hours (1 week) focused on system processes and ED specifics
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 1 year of Case Management experience within the last year
- Emergency Department (ED) experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience in Discharge Planning
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Standard background check within 1 year of start, including:
- 7-year SS trace and county searches
- Nationwide and sex offender registry checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in MA
- Statewide iCORI (criminal offender record information) clearance required
- Facility-specific compliance documents including:
- Badge photo (passport style, head and shoulders, plain background)
- Compliance checklist
- Latex allergy questionnaire
- Personal information forms
- COVID-19 exemption forms if applicable
References
- Two professional references required within the last 3 years for travel/per diem acute care positions
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are approved for this assignment
- Weekend shifts are scheduled every other weekend with float coverage
- Facility does not accept declinations for MMR or Varicella vaccines
- Hepatitis B declinations are accepted with proper documentation
- Flu vaccine declinations accepted only for medical reasons with provider documentation
- Facility requires annual TB testing only for ICU and ER candidates; this role is in ED, so annual TB testing applies
