Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Registered Nurse position specializing in Labor and Delivery
- Requires a minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Travel/contract assignment
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Red Cross preferred; required for Labor & Delivery and other specified units
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – required for all candidates
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Required Licensure
- Current, valid Massachusetts RN license (proof required)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required (highest stated requirement)
- No prior travel experience explicitly required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Emergency Contact Form prior to start
- CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) release
- Standard background checks including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/schooled, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks (updated annually)
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search (for tracking purposes)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date
- Fit testing for 3M N95 Model 1860 mask (required for all units including OR)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months to 1 year (QuantiFERON Gold, TSpot, or 2-step PPD)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant screens not accepted)
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Color blind testing (Ishihara test) if applicable to certain units
- Pass/fail testing on EKG/medications on first day of orientation
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years
- Positive titers or boosters for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer required; declination only accepted with low titer and completion of facility-specific declination form)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (October to May); exemptions require facility approval and mask-wearing if declined
- COVID-19 vaccination required annually or approved exemption (medical or religious)
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Headshot photo for badge (grey background, no selfies or professional photos)
- Flu and COVID-19 exemption forms if applicable
- Hepatitis B declination form if applicable
- TB questionnaire if prior positive TB test
- Scrub color flexible; scrubs provided for OR
References
- Two professional references required (within 3 years of start)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
