Description

Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Emergency Room Registered Nurse role covering combined adult and pediatric patients
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio approximately 1:5 with mixed/shared acuity levels
  • Float required as census dictates
  • Every other weekend work required
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed
  • Locals within 75 miles are not accepted for this position

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New York
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, with Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
  • Competency with phlebotomy
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association
    • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
    • PALS issued by American Heart Association
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
  • Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line care and management
  • Administration of continuous intravenous paralytics and sedation
  • Administration of intravenous vasopressors
  • Procedural sedation administration

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, and education verification
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, updated monthly
  • Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
  • Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees accepted)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) certification within 1 year, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual TB questionnaire if applicable
  • Immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer or completed series)
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
  • Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and pre-employment compliance attestations

Additional Requirements

  • References: Two professional references within the last 3 years (required for travel agency compliance)
  • Employment application and verification of at least two past employments
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams as required by specialty
  • Color blindness testing (one-time)
  • Mandatory orientation safety manual acknowledgement

Work Environment & Attire

  • Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
  • Charting system: Epic

Notes

  • Minimal return-to-office restrictions
  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position
