Job Opportunity: Oncology Radiation Therapist

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Contractor
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 8-hour Day Shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM), Monday through Friday
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Orientation: 1 day of New Employee Orientation (NEO)
  • Weekend Rotation: None
  • On Call: None
  • Holiday Schedule: Closed on holidays; time off during Christmas week requires team lead approval
  • Floating: No floating required

  • Fast-paced, flexible, and team-oriented culture

  • Scrub color: Any color allowed
  • Nail policy: No artificial fingernails or extenders during direct patient contact; natural nails must be kept under 1/4 inch

Patient Population & Workload

  • Patient Type: Oncology patients
  • Approximately 95% outpatient with some inpatient and emergency appointments
  • Average patient volume:
    • Outpatient: 55 patients per week
    • Consults: 10 per week
    • Follow-ups: 15 per week
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Radiation Therapist: 1:1 ratio, treating about 20 patients per machine per day
    • RN: 1:1 ratio

Team Composition

  • 12 Radiation Therapists
  • 4 Registered Nurses
  • 2-3 Physicians

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Radiation Therapist license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • IDNS (Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety) certification

Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Radiation Therapist treatment using TrueBeam technology
  • Ability to room and set patients up in the treatment room
  • First-time travelers are accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Technology & Systems

  • Charting and equipment systems used:
    • EPIC
    • Mosaic
    • Alaris
    • Pyxis

This position offers a structured schedule with no weekend or holiday work, a supportive team environment, and the opportunity to work with advanced radiation therapy technology in oncology care.
