Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Indiana, Bloomington


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Unit: 2E overflow
  • Work Hours per Week: 48 hours

Job Responsibilities

  • May be required to perform unit charge nurse duties depending on operational needs; training and resources will be provided.
  • Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Memorial Day weekend, Father’s Day weekend, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend, Thanksgiving, and Christmas).
  • Holiday time off requests (RTO) are not accommodated for the major holidays listed above.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Indiana.
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience in charge nurse roles.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county/state/national criminal checks, sex offender registry, and FACIS Level III.
  • Education verification and official transcript or diploma required.
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
  • Physical exam completed within 12 months of start.
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start with approved respirators (3M N95 models or Honeywell N95).
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tuberculosis test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start.
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required.
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31). Declinations not accepted.
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and unit competency exam required.
  • Color blindness testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) with minimum 100% score required.
  • References: Minimum 2 references from recent employment verified within 2 years; references must be from charge nurse, manager, supervisor, or higher.
  • Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps of 30 days or more.
  • Skills checklist completed within 12 months and updated annually.

Additional Notes

  • Locals are not accepted for this position.
  • Pending licenses are accepted if valid Indiana license/compact/temporary license is in hand at start.
  • Charge pay is offered for charge nurse responsibilities when assigned.
  • Facility-specific forms and compliance documents must be completed as a priority before start.
  • On-site fit testing is limited and requires prior approval; PAPR use requires facility approval.

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs who meet the licensure and certification requirements and are comfortable with potential charge nurse duties and holiday work commitments.
