Description
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (Night Shift)
Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in the Emergency Department (ED) on night shifts (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Must be willing to float to other units as needed based on skillset and manager discretion
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- Minimum 1 year of current Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Telemetry skills
- Experience with Epic electronic charting system
Health & Safety Requirements
- Flu vaccine required by December 5th, 2024 (medical or religious exemptions must be approved at least 2 weeks prior to start)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (onsite physical with Occupational Health prior to start)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 1 year) or negative chest X-ray if prior positive PPD
- Immunization or titer proof for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (titer, 2 vaccines, or history of chickenpox)
- Fit testing for N95 mask (3M 1870 quantitative test accepted)
- Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test (can be completed onsite)
Testing & Competency Requirements
- Must pass an advanced EKG/ECG test within 72 hours of contract signing with:
- Minimum 90% score on online exam
- 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms identification
- Up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation support if needed
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for all RNs)
Background & Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Standard background checks including 7-year search, nationwide, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks
- Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge, FCRA authorization release, lift assessment (minimum 10-25 lb depending on position)
- Completion of virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start date
Additional Notes
- Facility may call off up to 3 shifts per contract
- Candidates must not reside in specified local counties within 50 miles of the facility
- Flu season protocols require mask wearing if exemption is approved
- Candidates must bring certain forms (e.g., TSH Medical History, N95 OSHA questionnaire) to Occupational Health appointments
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses who meet the licensure, certification, and competency requirements and are willing to work night shifts on a travel contract basis outside the local area.
