Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D) – Nights
Location: Brattleboro, Vermont
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours per Day: 12
Job Description
- Provide nursing care by assessing health status, establishing nursing diagnoses, planning and implementing nursing interventions, and evaluating/documenting patient responses.
- Work in a Level One low-risk Birthing Center with single room maternity care.
- Patient population includes obstetrical patients (antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum), clean female surgical cases, newborn stabilization and care, pediatric patients during the perinatal period.
- Cesarean births are performed and recovered in the Birthing Center.
- Support therapeutic abortions on other units when staffing permits.
- Care philosophy incorporates Orem’s theory of self-care and family-centered care.
- Care provided on inpatient or outpatient basis.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Vermont.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) experience.
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cesarean sections, epidurals, electronic charting, and venipuncture.
- Active Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certification (can be obtained during onboarding).
- Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Active S.T.A.B.L.E. certification (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, Emotional support).
- Prior travel nursing experience is highly preferred.
Additional Information
- The position is located in a very rural area with limited housing options and public transportation; candidates should plan accordingly.
- Locals residing within 50 miles are accepted.
- On-call, overtime, holiday, and callback pay policies apply but are not detailed here.
- Cancellation policy allows the facility to cancel up to 3 shifts per 13 weeks.
