MS/Tele RN Job Summary

Location

• Rochester, New York

Job Type

• Travel/Contract
• Night shift, 3x12 hours
• 36 hours per week

Unit / Patient Population

• Complex care unit covering medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term patients
• Must be able to manage a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for MedSurg
• Patient ratio experience required: 1:6

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Experience in Charge roles
• Patient ratio experience of 1:6
• Proficiency in floating to other units
• Ortho Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Skills / Experience

• Telemetry monitoring
• Rapid Response / Code team support
• Pacemaker care, including temporary and permanent
• Feeding tube care and management
• Blood product administration
• Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
• Phlebotomy and starting IVs
• Heparin protocols
• Ortho trauma and total joint replacements
• Surgical drains
• High-flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tank use
• Tracheostomy management
• Isolation precautions
• Wound care and wound vac

Work Expectations

• Float required
• Every other weekend

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Physical exam, fit mask, TB screening, MMR immunity documentation, hepatitis B documentation, varicella documentation, drug screen, flu documentation, and eye exam are part of pre-start health/compliance requirements
