Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Weston, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with Operating Room specialty for a travel contract position. The role involves working day shifts with a schedule of 3 shifts per week, each shift being 10 hours (11:00 AM to 11:30 PM).
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year.
- Strong experience with Orthopedics and Neurology.
- First-time travel nurses are accepted.
- Must be able to float within scope to meet facility needs.
Schedule & On-Call
- On-call requirement: 1 shift per week plus 2 twelve-hour weekend shifts per month (details discussed during interview).
- Block scheduling is not accommodated.
- Locals within the area are accepted at the same rate.
Certifications & Licenses
- Valid RN license in Florida.
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification must be obtained prior to start.
Facility Requirements & Policies
- Smoke-free facility: All travelers must be nicotine-free with a negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine (cotinine) test.
- Time-sensitive online training modules must be completed by the due date prior to starting.
- Must include all requested time-off (RTO) upfront with submission; late additions likely will not be approved.
Onboarding & Compliance Documents
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service.
- Background checks including a 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG screenings required and must be current.
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start; Livescan fingerprinting recommended if clearance is not on file.
- Physical exam within 6 months of start date required.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required; annual updates necessary.
- Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (vaccines or titers as applicable).
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season unless approved medical/religious exemption is provided.
- COVID-19 vaccination series or approved exemption required.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start; must be negative for all substances including nicotine.
- Two professional references within 2 years required for travel nurses.
- Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually.
Testing & Competencies
- Pass/Fail testing on EKG and Pharmacology administered during orientation; two attempts allowed for each.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable.
- Core HIPAA and safety training modules must be acknowledged and completed.
Additional Notes
- Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12-hour shifts or 40 hours for 8/10-hour shifts.
- Candidates must prioritize completion of required modules promptly once assignment is confirmed.
- Candidates with prior background check issues may experience delays in clearance.
- Candidates returning to the facility without a break in employment may not require re-orientation or module completion.
