Description
Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry Float (Travel/Contract)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (1900 - 0730), 3 shifts per week, every other weekend, holidays as applicable
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily on different Medical/Surgical units including cardiac, spine, and neuro specialties.
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to starting.
- Epic electronic health record experience required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Compliance & Credentialing Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID Form required within 90 days of start.
- Education verification as applicable.
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements.
- Physical exam (to meet agency standard, not facility required).
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers, with medical/religious exemptions accepted.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with exemptions accepted.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form if declining.
- TB testing (IGRA blood test or two-step skin test) and annual TB questionnaire.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof as applicable.
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in specific departments.
- Signed acknowledgment of Orientation Safety Manual and Joint Commission Training.
- Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG/medication competency and telemetry testing required annually.
Testing & Training
- Telemetry test must be completed and passed 2 Fridays prior to start date.
- Candidates allowed up to 3 attempts with remediation required after 2nd failure. Failure after 3rd attempt results in contract cancellation.
- Rhythm Interpretation Course required if remediation is needed.
- Telemetry testing applies to all inpatient Med/Surg, ICU, Critical Care, and related units.
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge must be submitted in specified format (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
- Employment application and skills checklist required annually.
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years required per agency standard.
