Description

Registered Nurse (L&D)

Location: Salisbury, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide care for obstetrical patients antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum.
  • Immediate PACU recovery care for post c-section patients (no circulating required).
  • Provide immediate care of the newborn.

Unit Details

  • 13 labor beds, 3 triage rooms, 2 ORs.
  • Average of 170 deliveries per month.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1-2:1.
  • Equipment used: Epic EMR, Pericalm fetal monitoring surveillance, Omnicell medication dispensing system.
  • Floating: Possible floating to postpartum unit if census is low; no floating outside OB.

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts.
  • On-call shift averages 12 hours every 4 weeks.
  • Weekend work required, usually every 3rd weekend but can be up to every other weekend.

Orientation & Training

  • 8 hours of non-billable general hospital orientation.
  • Usually 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor.
  • On-call includes two 12-hour call shifts per 8-week schedule block.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Maryland
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience
  • PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP

Additional Information

  • Local candidates are not accepted; 100-mile radius restriction applies.
  • Client may cancel assignment up to 12 hours before shift during the 13-week contract.
  • Hospital provides scrubs as dress code.
