Specialty Experience

• 2 years of experience in the specialty

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• ACLS
• AWHONN
• BLS
• NRP
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with shoulder dystocia
• Experience with postpartum hemorrhage
• Experience with other potential OB emergencies
• Fetal monitoring education
• Experience with inductions (Pitocin, cervidil)

Unit Details

• Women’s Services unit
• 9 LDRP beds, 1 OBED bed, 4 NICU beds, and 1 OR suite
• No techs or unit secretaries
• Uses Meditech and CPN for documentation
• Scheduled for 3 shifts per week, with rotating weekends and holidays
• Staff may float within the facility as needed
• Some staff are cross-trained to float between LDRP and NICU

Clinical Experience

• Experience with inductions
• Experience with shoulder dystocia and postpartum hemorrhage is preferred
• Procedures on the unit include C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, and vacuum or forceps-assisted deliveries

Work Environment

• Daily rounding on all patients
• Safety rounding
• Pink and/or brown scrubs required per infant security policy
• The unit has experienced RNs who serve as resources and preceptors
• The team is described as supportive and willing to help
