ICU Travel Nurse

Overview

• Location: Roanoke, Virginia
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night, 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
• Contract length: 26 weeks
• Setting: Whole-house float across ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg units

Key Responsibilities

• Float across ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg units as needed
• Work with patient ratios of at least 1:5
• Manage ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg assignments with frequent floating during shifts

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Critical Care Float (2 years of experience)
• Critical Care Float experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• IV therapy experience
• PICC line management experience
• Central line care and management experience
• Arterial line management experience
• Blood product administration experience
• Trach management experience
• Non-invasive airway support experience including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator management, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Continuous IV sedation experience
• Emergency medications experience
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips experience
• Experience working with ratios of at least 1:5
• Experience with Epic

Scheduling Requirements

• May work every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• All requested time off, block scheduling, and special scheduling requests must be submitted with the application

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers are accepted
• Local candidates are accepted
• EPIC experience is required
• The facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Ratios listed in the source: ICU 2:1, PCU 5:1, Med-Surg 6:1, with Med-Surg potentially flexing to 7:1
