Description

Adult Psych RN

Overview

Specialty: Adult psychiatric nursing
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment type: Long-term assignment
Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day/evening/night rotation with every other weekend; 32 hours per week
Floating: Required
Patient population: Adults ages 18–65
Unit size: 30 beds
Patient ratio: 1 RN to 7–8 patients

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Massachusetts
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
2 years of psychiatric experience
Psychiatric experience within the last year
Experience in an inpatient setting
Experience in charge roles
BLS issued by the American Heart Association
Proficiency with automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell)
Proficiency with psychotropic medications and their side effects

Clinical Setting

The unit treats adults with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, dual diagnosis, detox needs alongside mental health treatment, and some medically acute needs such as IVs, CPAPs, wound care, and diabetic care

Additional Notes

Rotating shifts are required for day rotate positions; rotation is not required for night positions
