Description
Director of Nursing (DON) / RN Unit Supervisor
Overview
- Skilled Nursing and Long Term Care facility role located within a hospital and trauma center setting.
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday day shift with 24/7 accountability.
- Hours: 40 per week.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Long Term Care experience within the last year.
- 2 years of Long Term Care experience.
- Experience in supervisory roles.
- Director of Nursing experience.
- Long Term Acute Care experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Other certification per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate nursing care activities to improve continuity of care across the continuum.
- Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures to provide nursing services that meet Federal and State regulatory requirements.
- Provide continuing education to ensure staff competency.
- Provide consultative direction and expertise in nursing services to support assessment, improvement, and quality maintenance programs.
- Lead shift supervision through hiring, training, evaluation, assignment, and delegation of duties within budget and resident census guidelines.
- Complete, evaluate, and report monthly quality data, including falls, skin, psychotropic medications, and chart compliance.
- Develop and maintain departmental objectives, standards of nursing practice, and nursing policy and procedure manuals.
- Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of residents’ total regimen of care.
- Oversee assessment, coordination, planning, monitoring, implementation, and evaluation in case management.
- Organize resident care programs, including the interdisciplinary team, resident care planning team, and restorative care program.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and enforce department policies.
- Generate input into the budget process and maintain monthly expense records.
- Guide and enforce proper infection control practices.
