Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel)

Location: New York, NY
Specialty: Telemetry Nursing


Job Summary

Provide safe, competent, quality nursing care to a designated group of patients using evidence-based practice and nursing theory. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Support patient education, safety, and quality improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Deliver patient care based on Relationship Centered Care and nursing process.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs using critical thinking.
  • Integrate assessment and intervention skills in nursing care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team on care plans.
  • Prioritize patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and discharge planning.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and care team members.
  • Manage assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.

Patient Experience

  • Facilitate patient-centered care activities such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, Medication Review, and Discharge Wrap Up.
  • Respect patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Use evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions of care.
  • Address patient/family concerns and escalate as needed.
  • Demonstrate empathy, respect, and active listening.

Quality and Safety

  • Practice safe, efficient, patient-centered care.
  • Demonstrate clinical skills essential to quality and safety.
  • Implement process improvement and evidence-based strategies.
  • Participate in peer and institutional reviews.
  • Collaborate on quality improvement projects and nursing research.
  • Follow high reliability principles to avoid high-risk behaviors.
  • Escalate safety hazards following institutional protocols.
  • Document nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement.

Operations

  • Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate supply and inventory management with leadership.
  • Escalate resource deficits appropriately.
  • Use patient-focused, cost-effective approaches to care.
  • Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in compliance with standards.

  • Support clinical colleagues, patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Advance clinical competence from novice to expert.
  • Project a professional image demonstrating caring, respect, and empathy.
  • Incorporate ethical principles in decision-making.

Requirements

  • New York State RN License
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Telemetry and ventilator experience required
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience, including 2 years in telemetry and medical-surgical nursing
  • At least 1 year travel nursing experience preferred
  • EPIC electronic health record experience highly preferred

Contract Length

Approximately 13 weeks (89 days ≈ 13 weeks)
