Job Opportunity: RN - Med/Surg
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Acute - Nursing
Job Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
- Provide direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgery patients.
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications.
- Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
- Adjust specialized medical equipment as needed; interpret and record measurements.
- Monitor patients' vitals and report adverse reactions to medications promptly.
- Collaborate on discharge planning with the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
- Maintain and update patient files, medical charts, and health records.
- Adhere to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience in a large acute care hospital setting, with the most recent experience within the past year.
- Physical assessment.
- Medication administration.
- Wound care and infection control.
- IV therapy.
- Post-operative care.
- Patient education.
- Telemetry monitoring.
Education Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institute.
Certifications & Licensure
- New York State RN License with Primary Source Verification.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS).
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (Queens only).
Contract Length
- 14 weeks
