Description
Registered Nurse - Telemetry Stepdown
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Dayshift with every other weekend; Stepdown Float (floating to CVSU, Cardiopulmonary, Heart and Vascular Step Down, Comp Med Step down, and Cardiology Tele Step down)
Unit Description
- 28-bed Cardiac Medical Stepdown unit specializing in recovery following vascular and electrophysiology procedures.
- Care for patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac arrhythmias, syncope, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure.
- Provides cardiac monitoring for all patient populations.
- Services include titration of multiple intravenous medications and conscious sedation for cardioversions.
- All nurses are ACLS certified and have completed an ECG interpretation course.
- Suitable for nurses interested in transitioning to an ICU setting.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio.
- Minimum 2 years of stepdown nursing experience.
- Experience with cardiac drips such as amiodarone, Lasix, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, milrinone, etc.
- Ability to interpret heart rhythms.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide age- and culturally-specific patient care and education.
- Effective communication skills, maintaining confidentiality.
- Commitment to continuing professional growth and competence.
- Ability to accept and implement change and work in a culturally diverse environment.
- ACLS certification.
- Completion of an ECG interpretation course.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ventricular assist devices (VAD).
- Experience caring for post-open heart surgery, catheterization, vascular surgery, and cardiac patients.

- The RN role involves applying nursing knowledge from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Care is provided based on a model promoting partnership between patients, families, and healthcare providers.
